Past two days…

I’ve gotten a total of about 6 hours of sleep.

My mom went to the emergency room and then put into ICU.  She has COPD and somehow contracted RSV.

Respiratory syncytial (sin-SISH-uhl) virus, or RSV, is a common respiratory virus that usually causes mild, cold-like symptoms. Most people recover in a week or two, but RSV can be serious, especially for infants and older adults. In fact, RSV is the most common cause of bronchiolitis (inflammation of the small airways in the lung) and pneumonia (infection of the lungs) in children younger than 1 year of age in the United States. It is also a significant cause of respiratory illness in older adults.

COPD and RSV do not play well together.  When she got to the hospital, they put her on a BiPAP machine and would put her on a ventilator as a last resort.

All in My Feelings:

Here is the thing the pain you feel when you see your parent in a situation like she is it makes you feel broken. I can only describe it as injured feelings. I have no appetite, and I cannot sleep.  She is still in the ICU, and they found out exactly the issue causing the COPD to be worse, and they have a treatment plan. I spoke to her today, and she almost sounds like her old self.  I am not sure when she will be released, but she is far better than she was the past couple of weeks leading up to Monday.

Stress and Lack of Sleep:

My weight is down to 184.8, under 185 now.  If I continue this trend, I am hoping to be in the 170s by the end of the month.  My appetite is nonexistent but I’m thirsty.  I know I can’t just NOT eat food so I have been drinking beef broth with collagen.

My eyes are closing right now so I will be writing more tomorrow.  I got denied for Google Adsense, and I cannot figure it out since my mind is not sharp right now due to lack of sleep.

This bird is not a spring chicken now more of a winter hen.  I can’t believe I used to go for some days with no sleep and still function.  I have been keeping a journal so I can catch up with my writing after things settle down.   Once they move Mom to a regular room, I will be able to stop my mind from racing.

Thank you! I appreciate it especially since I am half out of my mind with sleep deprivation. 😁
